My Music Heard
27MILES features the original co-founder: singer, songwriter and guitarist Kevin Solomon, a.k.a.
“SOLLY”. Front man SOLLY brings masterfully adept guitar work, a powerful, emotion-eliciting
gravel voice and gift of gab personality. Our newest and most profound member, Kurt Custer,
“formerly of Lynyrd Skynyrd” circa,“1990-94” on Drums and back-up Vocals. In 1990, Ed King,
from Lynyrd Skynyrd, called and loved his drum work on the Copperhead Road,”Steve Earle”
record so much, he asked him to join Lynyrd Skynyrd and he did in November of 1990. He was
with Skynyrd four years and performed all over the world. Custer currently plays with 27MILES
since Feb 2009. On Rhythm/Lead/Slide, Johnny Stachela started collecting vinyl at age six. He
spent his first allowance on an AC/DC record. At age 12, his parents surprised him with an
electric guitar and amplifier on Christmas day. Now at age 34, and with over one thousand gigs
under his belt, he is still playing music his way. And that music is a healthy dose of blues, country,
and rock ‘n’ roll. During his career, he has traded licks with such significant artists as Mike
Campbell, Marc Ford, Leroy Powell, Duane Betts, Devon Allman, John Mayall, Billy Preston,
Robben Ford, Johnny Lang, and Los Lonely Boys, among many others. On Bass, Jason Benfield
prefers his Gibson bass growl over the more jazzy fender bass sound. His biggest bass influences
are the late great Allen Woody of the Allman Brothers Band & Govt. Mule and Jack Bruce of the
Cream.
