Factory are a 5 piece ambient rock band who hail from Melbourne Australia. The band formed
in 2004, consisting of members from Melbourne indie band ‘Several Species’ and surf punk
legends ‘Eddie Would Go’. The sound of Factory gains influences from such bands as acid
rockers ‘Pink Floyd’ , 80’s alternative kings ‘Echo & The Bunnymen’ and Australia ‘s seminal
underground groovers ’Underground Lovers’. The music itself is lead by complimentary
vocals and guitars and backed with a solid rhythm section – each instrument is a voice with
something interesting to say and space in which to be heard! Factory’s muse extends beyond
the standard themes of love won or lost, preferring to tell stories of people who live on the
fringe, who cross the line or were pushed across it. The stories of these few can give voice
to millions…. In the second half of 2007 Factory released their debut ep titled “Long Way
Down” Recorded at Melbourne’s Sing Sing studios. Working with producer Jimi Maroudas –
who has an impressive reputation for his work with Tim Rogers, Living End, Ice Cream Hands
and Peter Murray. The single “Stable Gates” received airplay on JJJ radio and also on t.v
programme “Rage”. Having sold over 500 copies of “Long Way Down” independantly the
band are gaining a well deserved reputation for being an exciting live act. This was no more
apparent when in early 2009 they supported iconic english rockers ‘The Stranglers’. With this
in mind Factory look forward to a bright future and will be back in the studios in 2009 to
capture more tunes and a wider audience !
