Hmmm… So a bit about me and music. Well some man just described it as Gothic meets Gypsy
which I don’t understand but I like that anyways. I I would say classical music and Broadway
meets Indy Rock Scene…maybe a personality could describe it better? It’s what Sarah
Silverman and Elton John’s baby would be if they mated; their sound baby. Although that
would never happen, because Sarah Silverman, is let’s face it, a little queer.

I was taught piano in the royal conservatory of music but learned all I know about performing
in bands in Calgary (Boy Girls) and in Montreal (Boy Girls and Jaimee Lee Band.) While I lived
in Quebec getting my BFA I performed for french people, english students and non-descript
vague people.

I may as well have been born attached to a piano, something which has stunted my human
relationships. At 17 I started songwriting and ignored school. I moved to Montreal at 21 and
studied piano with a man named Yaron Ross and composition with Dr Rosemary Mountain at
Concordia University. Montreal was also time spent experimenting with broken social
scenes; Drop outs from Cirque du Soleil, Vegans, Musicians, the homeless all stories for my
albums. I have chronicled the characters between Indyness to Bluegrass; the happy stories,
the tragic tails and the stories that went no where. I hope my songs mean something to you,
because they were really really intense to have to live through.

In conclusion please listen to my song “Ophelia the Great”, the song I’ve submitted for the
Lilith Fair Opener competition. I would like to play in this singing music woman competition,
because I like music and I am a woman and I want to keep performing as a singing woman it
would mean a lot to me…and my piano.
Sincerely Jaimee Lee-Baggley (me)
